A Outtrip Coordinator plays a leading role in making sure that every participant who spends time in the wilderness – for a night or four weeks – has everything they need to stay safe and comfortable.   Outtrip Coordinators start and train with Orkila’s Teen Trip Leaders and will have the opportunity to take part in either the sea kayaking or sailing skills trainings. They’ll work alongside Teen Trip Leaders to support Orkila’s Expedition and LDI courses along with the overnight trips offered to every Orkila Traditional Camper. Outtrip Coordinators run the behind the scenes show, packing food, maintaining Orkila’s equipment and make sure that every trip that spends time away from Camp Orkila is successful. The first are our Leadership Development Institute (LDI) courses. We offer two- and three-week LDI courses that combine wilderness travel with time spent at Orkila to take advantage of youth work and leadership experiences, time spent on a challenge course and service projects at Orkila and in the Orcas Island Community. Our pure expedition (kayaking) courses send teens out into the San Juan Islands for one, two and four weeks of adventure, peer to peer leadership and skill development.
