What you’ll be doing…

Every day hundreds of children participate in fun and engaging YMCA programs. Be part of an amazing team of staff focused on teaching teamwork and social skills, and support children as they grow and learn. 

  1. Transports children to and from program activities and site(s).
  2. Makes daily safety inspections of vehicle.
  3. Reports to supervisor any conditions on vehicle in need attention or correction.
  4. Oversees conduct of children on vehicle.
  5. Follows all driver guidelines and standards.
  6. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  7. May supervise a group of program participants.

Hiring Range: Entry $22.00 - Maximum $24.20/Hr

 

Salary Range: $22.00-$31.90/Hr

If you're the right candidate for the job, you are excited to spend your days impacting the lives of children.  You are comfortable with individual and groups of children, can talk to and partner with parents and other adults.  

 

Where you’ll work…

You’ll be based out of one off the branches that offers programs ranging from health and wellness, to family programs, to child care, to aquatics (access is a staff benefit - swim a few laps before work, take a yoga class, do some laps on the track before you go home, if you like!).  Specifically the Seattle Y offers programs throughout the greater Seattle area, requiring transport of participants to the programs located in community parks, schools and other community buildings.

Qualifications

This is a safety-sensitive role that requires you to become a CDL “authorized driver” for the Y. Potential offers are contingent upon meeting the following conditions: Being 22+, having a current medical examiner's certificate, a valid driver's license for at least four years and possessing a driving record that meets Y standards (no more than two moving violations within the last three years, no significant incidents such as reckless driving, DUI/DWI, no tickets 20+ miles above the speed limit etc. within the last 5 years) You must also pass a drug screen that will test for impairing substances, including marijuana.

 

You are 22 years of age or older and should have:

  1. Current state approved first aid certification.*
  2. Current state approved CPR certification.*
  3. TB test by the Mantoux method.**
  4. HIV/AIDS training certification.*
  5. Current Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with class B Passenger endorsement and Air Brake Restrictions Removed for 66-passenger buses.
  6. Driving record which meets or exceeds YMCA standards.
  7. Four years or more general driving experience, with bus driving experience preferred.
  8. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.

*       At hire or earliest possible training.
