SUMMARY
A Summer Camp Day Camp Counselor provides supervision and enrichment to a specific group of campers at Camp Orkila on beautiful Orcas Island, WA.A Day Camp Counselor serves as a professional role model for our campers by leading through example and guiding campers through recreational activities that teach life skills, encourage healthy and safe behaviors, and create a positive camper experience. Recreational activities with campers include but are not limited to arts and crafts, sports, social recreation, songs, nature hikes, archery, and other games and enrichment activities. Day Camp Counselors are supervised by Unit Directors and perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY
Orkila specializes in two types of expedition experiences. The first are our Leadership Development Institute (LDI) courses. We offer two- and three-week LDI courses that combine a kayaking expedition or challenge course focuswithyouth work and leadership experiences, and service projects at Orkila and in the Orcas Island Community. Our pure expedition (kayaking) courses send teens out into the San Juan Islands for one, two, and four weeks of adventure, peer to peer leadership and skill development. Trip leaders will often get the opportunity to lead multiple types of courses in a typical summer spent working at Camp Orkila. When not leading courses, Trip Leaders will support in other areas of camp.

Rock Climbing Instructors are certified to work at all of the Y’s artificial climbing sites in King County. We have four climbing sites located at YMCA branches in Auburn, Shoreline, Bothell, and SeaTac. Our climbing positions involve working with various ages and skill levels from youth to adult, teaching skills and technique through program instruction and ensuring a safe and organized climbing environment. We are looking for applicants who have a passion for helping people push themselves and learn through adventure. Applicants must be safety conscious and dedicated to using best practices at all times. Site-specific training and certification is required and provided. The ability to travel to all YGS Climbing Tower locations is not essential.

The Inclusion Director oversees a team of staff who provide direct support to campers who need extra support while at camp. They support Mental, Emotional and Social Health needs of campers, with the aim of helping everyone to feel safe, happy, and comfortable while always ensuring the supervision and safety of campers. They supervise a small team of Camper Support Coordinators. The Inclusion Director is supervised by the Summer Program Director and performs other duties as assigned. Arts and Earth (A&E) Program Counselors facilitateand supervise our arts studio, earth sciences programs, and our Marine Salmon Center for all campers and participants at Camp Orkila on beautiful orcas Island, WA. This includes art projects, visiting our saltwater touch tank, “Life in the Forest” (an energetic tag game), archery, beach walks, and tactile activities like Rope Bridge and Geodome. When not working in their assigned program area, an Arts & Earth Program Counselor provides supervision and enrichment to a specific group of campers. Arts & EarthProgram Counselors ensure the supervision and safety of campers at all times. During staff training, Arts & Earth Program Counselors are supervised by Unit Directors and perform other duties as assigned.
