Are you a parent or guardian who has parented a child through some difficult challenges? Have you experienced how hard systems can be to navigate but were able to find your way through to the other side? If so, we are looking for you to join the Children’s Crisis Outreach Response System (CCORS) team! CCORS Parent Partners are parents/guardians who have first-hand experience with a variety of systems including but not limited to: Developmental Disabilities Administration, Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, Drug and Alcohol, Domestic Violence, Mental Health etc.
This is a great opportunity to be a part of a dynamic team involved in providing inclusive, safe and caring support to Parents and families that are in crisis. Parent Partners have the opportunity to use their personal story to mentor other parents. This work helps parents and children find healthy ways to communicate and interact which are the essential building blocks for strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
CCORS Parent Partners provide culturally competent, strength-based peer support to parents of children in crisis. Our parent partners utilize their own experience of having parented a child in similar situations, to validate and instill hope in parents who are currently struggling. Parent partners maintain a positive attitude while providing skills coaching to parents in order to help them learn to effectively de-escalate crisis and increase in-home stabilization. They identify parenting resources and supports and help teach parents advocacy skills to effectively navigate systems in order to meet their family’s needs. The Parent Partner is an integral part of a team that serves the family as a whole. The ideal candidate can collaborate effectively with co-workers, supervisors and outside professionals to support the family.
