    Job Summary

    Every day hundreds of children participate in fun and engaging YMCA summer day camp programs. Apply today to become a part of the 2019 Summer Day Camp Team!

     

    Serve as a professional role model for our campers by leading through example and guiding campers through activities that teach life skills, encourage healthy and safe behaviors and create a positive camper experience. You will be responsible for planning, leading, and implementing experiences for children in a small group setting. Be part of an amazing team of staff focused on teaching teamwork and social skills, and support children as they grow and learn. Recreational activities with campers, include but are not limited to, arts and crafts, sports, social recreation, songs, nature hikes, archery, and other games and enrichment activities.

     

    Camp Season runs June 17th - August 30th with a training a training mid May and some trainings in June. 

     

    Positions available in multiple cities throughout King County. (Shoreline, Edmonds, Bothell, Woodinville, Bellevue, Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah, Snoqualmie, Renton, Kent, Auburn, Tukwila, Seatac, Burien, West Seattle, Seattle)

     

     

    Responsibilities

    1. Provides supervision, guidance, leadership and direction to Camp Counselors as needed.
    2. Supervises a group of children to ensure their health, safety and to provide a positive experience for each camper.
    3. Plans and implements program activities.
    4. Professionally engages with parents/guardians to provide pertinent program information and share about their camper’s experience.
    5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
    6. Ensures that equipment is clean, safe, set up and stored properly.
    7. Attends staff meetings and training programs as required.
    8. Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    You are 21 years of age or older and should have:

    1. 1-2 years of experience with children; camps, child care, tutoring, nanny, coaching
    2. Ability to model and demonstrate Y values; caring, respect, responsibility and honesty
    3. 1 year + experience leading others as a lead or supervisor 
    4. Demonstrated experience planning and implementing group activities

    If position requires driving:

    • Current Driver’s License with a minimum 3 years safe driving experience and a driving record which meets or exceeds YMCA standards
    • Maximum one minor violation
    • No speeding violation of more than 20 mph over the limit
