    Instructs Tai-Chi group fitness class to particants of varying ages & abilities. Current Opening:  Weekly, Fridays from 10:45-11:45am at the West Seattle YMCA.


    1. Plans and instructs classes or programs in a specialty area. Observes and discusses individual progress with participants.
    2. Develops positive relationships with participants and facilitates relationship building among participants and members. Provides motivational support and guidance.
    3. Increases participant awareness of all healthy lifestyle factors.
    4. Attends staff meetings and approved trainings as required.
    5. Sets up and takes down class equipment. Reports equipment problems.
    6. Ensures safe and effective classes. Responds to, and reports, accidents and incidents.
    7. Conveys basic knowledge of all Y Healthy Living programs.
    8. Accurately maintains related records.
    9. Leads ongoing YMCA classes or specialized programs.


    1. Current state approved first aid certification.*
    2. Current state approved CPR certification.
    3. High school education or equivalent preferred.
    4. Two or more years experience teaching or practicing in specialized area.
    5. Total Service/Total Health Training**
    6. Ability to lead a class or provide individual service.
    7. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
    8. Ability to motivate and educate members.
    9. Ability to set up, move and store equipment.
    10. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
    11. Martial Arts: Certified trainer and member of specialty wellness association.

    *       Within 30 days of employment or first available training.

    **     Within 90 days of employment or first available training.
