    GENERAL FUNCTION

    Under the direction of the Teen Programs Director, the Teen Programs Coordinator will oversee the day to day programming of the three youth center sites in Kent, WA.  Act as a liason between partners, teen mentors and the director. 

    Responsibilities

    1. On site lead staff for after school programs.  Serves as support for other YMCA mentors.. 
    2. Plans and implements program in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA and partnership agreements.  Coordinates activities which fit the developmental needs of youth.
    3. Communicates with school staff daily, participates in regularly scheduled meeting with school administration
    4. Communicates with, develops, and maintains positive relationships with youth and families. 
    5. Provides day-to-day leadership to staff and volunteers.
    6. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
    7. Maintains ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, cleanliness, and learning environment of program site.
    8. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
    9. Posting on the program's Instagram and Snapchat of upcoming events.
    10. Be available for trips.
    11. Other duties as assigned by Teen Programs Director

     

    Qualifications

    1. 18 years of age or older.
    2. Current state approved first-aid certification. *
    3. Current state approved community CPR certification. *
    4. Experience in working with youth the same age as those to be supervised.
    5. Experience leading other staff
    6. One year of experience or more in program planning preferred.
    7. Knowledge of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate practices.
    8. Knowledge of core curriculum components of assigned age group.
    9. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
    10. Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.

     

    *At hire, or earliest possible training (but no later than 90 days after employment)
