    What you’ll be doing…

    Every day hundreds of children are welcomed into our fun and engaging YMCA early learning child care programs. Be part of an amazing team of staff who provide a learning environment for children in which they feel secure, comfortable, and important. You will be a part of providing a nurturing child-centered environment through enrichment and activities while also supporting the children as they grow and learn. The Assistant Teacher provides classroom leadership through supervision of a group of children in addition to overseeing the activities of other groups. 


    We are currently looking for  teachers in the following classrooms: Infants, Toddler  Waddler, and Pre K.


    Where you’ll work…


    Located in the Lea Hill Early Learning Center in Auburn. Seeking Teachers with availabilty Monday-Friday between 6:30 am- 6:30 pm. 



    1. Plans and implements culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum in accordance with the Youth Development goals of the YMCA.
    2. Supervises a group of children to ensure their health and safety and to provide for a positive experience for each child.
    3. May provide guidance to staff/volunteers overseeing the activities of groups of children.
    4. Professionally communicates day-to-day, confidential and evaluative information with parents/guardians.
    5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
    6. May fill-in for the Lead Teacher during short-term absences.
    7. Assists in maintaining developmentally appropriate classroom including appearance, décor and cleanliness of site.
    8. May prepare and serve snacks. Cleans snack area.
    9. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
    10. Other duties as assigned.

You have an eye for quality programming and can build a sense of belonging with the groups you work with.


    You should have:

    • Must be 18 years of age or older
    • Experience in working with children the same age as those to be supervised.
    • Experience planning and implementing group activities.
    • Ability to model and demonstrate Y values; caring, respect, responsibility and honesty
    • Preferred qualification- 45 or more college quarter credits in early childhood/child development, or possess an equivalent educational background, or be a certified child development associate (preferred).
