    Responsibilities

    Oversees and directs the overall planning and operations of YMCA Camp Colman, including program development and delivery, staffing, volunteer and community relationships, budgeting and financial management, facilities planning and operation, and administration. Leads assigned teen development programs.

    1. Oversees and directs program development and delivery to support YMCA objectives, including, for example, youth camping programs, weekend programs, and outdoor education programs.
    2. Recruits, hires, trains, evaluates and supervises year-round and seasonal camp staff and volunteers.
    3. Provides staff leadership to Camp Colman Board and fund-raising efforts.
    4. Maintains effective working relationships with various groups and committees, including parents of campers.
    5. Oversees support services for camp, such as registration, administration, food service, and transportation.
    6. Directs the upkeep, maintenance, and expansion planning for camp facilities and grounds.
    7. Leads assigned programs for Association, such as the Ethics and Leadership program and/or other assigned responsibilities.
    8. Participates as a member of the Camping & Outdoor Leadership management team. Provides required reports.
    9. Oversees promotion and marketing of Camp Colman to increase usage of the camp.
    10. Recruits user groups.
    11. Develops and oversees the Camp Colman annual budget and financial operations.
    12. Makes decisions related to the welfare, health and safety of all campers and staff.
    13. Maintains and enforces all camp safety rules and policies and ensures that safety equipment is in good order and readily available.
    14. Corrects safety hazards.
    15. Develops effective working relationships with community leaders and groups, including schools, service groups, government officials, etc.

     

    Where you’ll work…

    You will live on site at YMCA Camp Colman in Longbranch, WA.   During this time, you will provide oversight across Camp Colman’s summer programs. The remainder of the year, you will work to support summer operations as well as year-round operations, including environmental education, conference and retreats and family programming both at Camp Colman and within the Camping & Outdoor Leadership Branch.  Y will provide you with on-site housing at Camp Colman.

You pride yourself in being level headed, a strong communicator and are able to manage multiple assignments and priorities. You have the ability to build strong relationships on an individual level and with communities. You have a track record of being able to develop and implement quality programming.

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelor's degree in recreation, education, or equivalent.
    2. Five or more year's experience at a supervisory level in residence camping (YMCA preferred), teen development and teen programs and program development.
    3. CPR and First Aid certifications required.
    4. YMCA Senior Director preferred.
    5. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
