    Where you’ll work…

     

    Our Marketing and Communications team works in the heart of Downtown Seattle, in a historic building that has housed the YMCA since the 1930s.  Not only does our building house our Association Office (corporate headquarters), but it's also home to some of our unique social service programs AND a membership facility (access is a staff benefit - swim a few laps before work, take a yoga class at lunch, do some laps on the track before you go home, if you like!). 

                                            

    This position will be a part of the Marketing team, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer and will work very closely with the Regional VP for South King County.

    The position will split time between South King County and the YGS Association office in downtown Seattle as appropriate.

    Responsibilities

    What you’ll be doing…

    We are looking for an enthusiastic marketer who is passionate about building community in and around Kent/South King County.   If you are ready to roll up your sleeves and help launch the new KENT YMCA – consider applying below!

     

    This position is responsible for planning and executing marketing, communications and community engagement activities to support the successful launch of the Kent YMCA. He/she will be responsible for conceptualizing and managing all events, activities and campaigns to increase awareness and early membership sales for the new Kent Y. This position will be a part of the Marketing team, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer and will work very closely with the Regional VP for South King County.

    The position will split time between South King County and the YGS Association office in downtown Seattle as appropriate.

     

    Key responsibilities:

     

    • Drive awareness and secure support for the Kent branch among the local community
    • Understand the unique tone and voice of the YMCA for and be able to translate it into effective marketing materials.
    • Brief and collaborate with Creative team to drive delivery of all pre-opening related collateral and assets
    • Create and/or secure all content required for digital and/or printed materials
    • Identify and pursue opportunities for third-party events and liaise with organizers
    • Develop, organize and execute special events related to driving awareness, membership and/or financial support
    • Build strong relationships with local media to support awareness of the Kent Y
    • Communicate regular updates to leadership and key stakeholders.
    • Work with internal departments (i.e. donor services, membership, and marketing) to ensure all content and systems are in place to ensure success with branch opening (i.e. website content, membership details, coupon codes, etc.)
    • Build marketing/and or PR plans for all events, membership acquisition and awareness campaigns.
    • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers and support staff to assist with special events
    • Lead cross-functional launch meetings with subject matter experts across the YMCA of Greater Seattle to ensure all activities stay on track.
    • Manage vendors and/or agencies as appropriate
    • Work with the Creative team to plan graphic needs for new branch (wayfinding, environmental signage, etc.)
    • Manage all pre-opening communication for prospective members and other key stakeholders
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    You should have:

    1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field or equivalent education or experience.
    2. Minimum 3 years of work experience developing marketing plans.
    3. Demonstrated experience/results in working with writers, project managers, clients and senior leaders in the successful development of marketing communications materials.
    4. Previous management experience (with external marketing vendors and/or in-house staff)
    5. Comfort and ability to lead trainings in YMCA program subject matter area.
    6. Ability to self-direct, prioritize and work independently on assigned tasks.
    7. Outstanding written, presentation and verbal communications skills with proven ability to make data tell a story and drive strategic decision-making.
    8. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
    9. Comfortable working in fluid environments.
    10. Comfortable working in a PC environment.
