Where you’ll work…

 

You will be base in Kent WA, at three of housing communities managed by the King's County Housing Authority.  Birch Creek youth center, Valli Kee community center, and Cascade community center.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

What you’ll be doing…

 

You will be implementing and creating life enriching and leadership training activities for teen program in the housing communities from grades 7th -12th.  It is your job to create a positive mentor relationship with the teens guide them to becoming strong community leaders in the future. 

 

Daily tasks will consist of

  • Planning and running activities and physical activities with them. 
  • Helping with homework.
  • Taking and inputing daily attendance.
  • Supervising on occsional trips
  • Being a role model and being an example of the YMCA four core values.
  • Following YMCA procedures and protocols.
  • Anything else as directed by the Teen Programs Director.

You have the ability to build strong relationships on an individual level and with communities. You have a track record of being able to develop and implement quality programming and know how to provide support and a sense of belonging to others.

Qualifications

You should be 18 years of age and have:

  1. Current state approved first-aid certification. *
  2. Current state approved community CPR certification. *
  3. Experience in working with youth the same age as those to be supervised.
  4. One year of experience or more in program planning preferred.
  5. Knowledge of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate practices.
  6. Knowledge of Seattle School District Academic Learning Standards for the age group and designated subject area.
  7. Knowledge of core curriculum components of assigned school.
