    YMCA Camp Colman is a traditional, character-value based overnight camp program located in the south Puget Sound.  Cabin counselors serve as the primary role models and leaders for our more than 200 campers each week.

    GENERAL FUNCTION

    Provides direct supervision to and lives with a group of campers in summer resident camp. Ensures the supervision and safety of campers at all times.  Implements all aspects of summer camp program.

    Responsibilities

    1. Supervises and lives with a group of campers. Ensures that all campers are accounted for and safe at all times.
    2. Facilitates and leads program activities that are developmentally appropriate and which promote camper skill and character development. Leads and assists with facilitation of all-camp special events.
    3. Provides leadership and supervision to any developing teen leaders placed with the group.
    4. Maintains safety and cleanliness standards. Takes special note of individual camper health needs or concerns on a daily basis. Shares cleaning duties with fellow staff.
    5. Communicates personal or camper needs to supervisor in a timely manner.
    6. Maintains equipment in sound and safe order.
    7. Attends staff meetings and trainings.
    8. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
    9. Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    1. 18 years of age or older.
    2. Current state approved first aid certification.
    3. Current state approved CPR certification.
    4. High school graduate or equivalent.
    5. One or more years of college preferred.
    6. Ability to participate in activities that involve rigorous activity in an outdoor setting, including, but not limited to hiking, boating, camping and swimming.
