GENERAL FUNCTION

Referees at Dale Turner are energetic, fun, and enjoy sports. Dale Turner's leagues are designed to be non-competitive, and to provide a positive environment for participants to enjoy themselves in. Our referees reflect the environment our leagues provide, and enforce safe play, sportsmanship, and fun for the children.

Responsibilities

  1. Officiates at games on Saturday mornings and/or afternoons.
  2. Puts all equipment away after games if needed.
  3. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.
  4. Attends staff meetings and required trainings.
  5. May set up playing area if required.
  6. Acts as a "third coach" on the court during games (age dependent).
  7. Provides a safe, fun, and positive environment during games.

Qualifications

  1. Current state approved first aid certification preferred.*
  2. Current state approved CPR certification preferred.*
  3. Up-to-date knowledge of YMCA guidelines designated for the league.
  4. Experience in refereeing preferred.
  5. Knowledge of safety issues related to sport and facility.
  6. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  7. Prefer knowledge of, and pervious experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.

  • Under 21 years = $9.47/hour
