Apply now to join the Orkila Expedition Community as a Sailing Trip Leader. Camp Orkila is located on Orcas Island in Washington State's San Juan Island archipelago. Sailing Trip Leaders work with groups of up to 8 teens (aged 13 to 17) on one- and two-week leadership and expedition courses aboard our keel boat fleet of J-24 and Soling sailboats.

Our Sailing Trip Leaders work with teens and teach the skills and techniques of keel boat sailing along with introducing them to camping and traveling outdoors. Our courses focus on sailing and navigating the San Juan Islands while engaging in wilderness exploration and group development. Groups camp on different islands while out in the field under the care and supervision of our trip leaders. Orkila offers one-and two-week sailing expeditions and a two-week sailing Leadership Development Institute course that combines youth work, service and sailing skill development.

Candidates interested in applying for the Sailing Trip Leader position must also submit an outdoor resume or logbook to Jordan Bright (jbright@seattleymca.org). A blank logbook can be downloaded HERE.

Please note that if you are interested in multiple positions with Camp Orkila this summer it is only necessary to apply to one posting. We will be happy to consider you for all open positions during the interview process.
