Authorized Driver Role Requirements

This role requires you to transport campers. You will need to become an “authorized driver” for the Y. This means you must have held a valid driver's license for at least 3 years and must have a clean driving record (no more than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years, no DUI/DWI, and no tickets 20+ miles above the speed limit). You will have to complete a drug test during onboarding. 

 

Tell me about this job!

As the Community Programs Supervisor of our Youth Development and Hunger Response programs you will lead and develop our Hunger Response volunteers, AmeriCorps members, and youth development staff. For youth development, you will lead and develop our before and after school during the school year and day camp staff in the summer. This position will serve on an engaging and dynamic team, playing a key role in ensuring planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum are provided to the participants and playing a key role in ensuring planning and implementation of community centered programs that are provided to the community. You will oversee the planning and implementation of a safe and quality Hunger Response program and school age program providing day-to-day support and overall management of the program sites. You will supervise and evaluate the staff and volunteers, including hiring and training, maintaining required health and safety measures and conducting regular staff meetings. You will be an important part of helping maintain professional relationships with families, facility personnel, and the community. This position is a regular on going position that works within our Hunger Response programs throughout the year. 

 

*This is a Full-Time Onsite Position.

Youth Development Programming Programming at Einstein Elementary: Monday – Friday 6:45am – start of school to support 

Hunger Response Programming at Summerwood Apartments School House Monday – Friday After School Support 

 

Administrative hours are provided and AM shifts are variable due to program need.  The position is based out of one location, but you will be asked to support and/or substitute at nearby sites when needed.  Hours and shifts are determined by the school schedules, supervisors will be expected to work 35-40 hours in a combination of admin and in ratio hours.

Responsibilities

What you'll be doing

  1. Ensures planning and implementation of Hunger Response program model in accordance with the Hunger Response goals of the YMCA. Is responsible for the quality and implementation of all program plans, including food supports, enrichment activity planning, grant requirements, and family event plans. 
  2. Trains, supervises, and evaluates Hunger Response site staff/volunteers and child care site staff/volunteers. Is responsible for professional development communication to staff/volunteers. Conducts staff/volunteer meetings. Maintains required policies and procedures.
  3. Professionally communicates as needed confidential and evaluative information with families and community partners including newsletters, event communications and program requirements.
  4. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
  5. Maintains professional relationships with families, staff/volunteers, and the community. Will plan and conduct events for families and the community on at least a quarterly basis.
  6. Maintains required program policies for child to staff per program requirements. Provides direct supervision to a group of children.
  7. Maintain required records according to YMCA standards, including meal counts, attendance records, grant records, registration information, accident reports, discipline records and other emergency records.
  8. Builds relationship with community to increase participation of program.
  9. Ensures that site supplies are maintained and purchased as necessary.
  10. May assist with developing and monitoring department budgets.
  11. May supervise a group of children to ensure their health and safety and to provide for a positive experience for each child.
  12. Ensures program spaces are set up to support the community served including developmentally appropriate, diverse décor and supplies and cleanliness of site.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Qualifications

What we're looking for in an applicant

  1. Three years or more of experience working with children, camps, childcare, tutoring or nannying.
  2. One year or more of supervisory experience.
  3. High school graduate or equivalent. 
  4. Have completed 30 credits of 100-level or above college-level coursework.
  5. 21 years of age or older.
  6. Ability to model and demonstrate Y values; caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
  7. Experience planning and implementing group activities.

Preferred Education/Experience

  1. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
  2. Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful. 
  3. 45 credits of 100-level or above college-level course work
  4. Previous experience in school age care programs and summer day camps.
