Job Summary

The Specialty Enrichment Class Instructor leads and facilitates Out of School Time classes, creating lasting and positive impact on participants, branches and the community. Instructs assigned Spanish/English language class.  Understands developmental needs of assigned youth, develops lesson plans/curriculum to meet needs and teach specific skills for enrichment class.

Hiring Range: $24.00-$25.85/hour

Responsibilities

  1. Plans and instructs Spanish/English Language Classes. Ensures students build skills and meet identified program goals.
  2. Develops positive relationships with participants and facilitates relationship building among participants.  Provides motivational support and guidance.
  3. Attends staff meetings and approved trainings as required.
  4. Sets up and takes down class equipment.  Ensures spaces are left the same way they are found.  Reports equipment problems.
  5. Ensures safe and effective classes.  Responds to, and reports, accidents and incidents.
  6. Accurately maintains related records.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Current state approved first aid certification.
  2. Current state approved CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification.
  3. One or more years of related experience preferred.
  4. Demonstrated ability to teach specialty skill to assigned age group.
  5. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  6. Working knowledge of youth development and YMCA Powerful Schools program model.
  7. Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
